YCVSC Academy Program

The Academy Program is the first step for players that desire a more challenging playing environment than that provided by our recreation program. The U10 Academy program is for players wanting additional development and an opportunity for competitive matches against other Academy clubs. There will be a few opportunities to travel to other clubs for competitive play and we will arrange for the Academy program to host clubs as well.

The Academy Program is strictly a player’s development program. The goal of the program is to seek individual improvement of each player through high level training without the pressure of standings and results. The Academy program seeks to improve individual player development, satisfaction and retention, and to build a less pressured youth soccer environment for coaches, adult spectators, and match officials.

Academy Philopsophy

The YCVSC Academy is a unique program for Boys and Girls age seven (7), eight (8), and nine (9). The Academy’s philosophy is one of playing to learn and minimizing the intense pressure to win. This philosophy transcends every training session and match. The Academy coaching staff is specially trained to provide this introduction to select soccer in an environment conducive to learning and having Fun! Challenging training sessions conducted by the Academy staff are the key ingredient in the personal development of the players. Training activities are devised to help each player improve technically (skills), tactically (decision-making), physically (fitness) and psychologically (mental toughness). The Academy focuses on the complete development of each player - utilizing guided discovery teaching methods, challenging each player to creatively solve problems that only the game itself can provide.

Academy Goals

  1. Create an environment where young players are exposed to the game with an emphasis on skill development more than team development.
  2. Maintain an environment where players are allowed to flourish in a competitive arena in which the focus of quality soccer is more important than short-term success of winning versus losing.
  3. Educate players and parents in the development process and club values
  4. We'll measure learning and fun, not scores and standings.

What People are saying about the Eagles

Eagles Rock!!!

Our family loves soccer and after playing Rec ball at the YMCA for several years, joining the Eagles was just a logical progression for us.  And we are so glad we did!

There is no better organization for soccer.
